Over 20 years ago, Dr. Domonkos Horvath created the worldwide standard for retraction with OptraGate — more than 300 million clinical applications across 130+ countries. Now, together with his son, he is developing what comes next: RING — the world’s first variably adjustable lip and cheek retractor, built for the digital era.
With more than 300 million clinical applications, Dr. Domonkos Horvath set the worldwide standard. But dentistry has become more digital, faster, and more demanding. While technology has made quantum leaps, access to the working field has stayed where it was a decade ago.
What if the fight against anatomy were over? A system that adapts and stays. No slipping, no readjusting.
What if access were perfect from the start? More buccal visibility, more control, more efficiency in every step.
What if your inventory came down to a single size? One variably adjustable size for every patient. No sorting, no storage.
We are in the final phase before launch in mid-2026.
RING combines comfort, stable retraction, and freedom of movement in a system that integrates intuitively into any modern workflow.
Steplessly adjustable from XS to XL. No size sorting, no guessing, no switching. RING always fits.

Optimized buccal retraction for scans, photography, and precision work. See more — in every indication.

RING stays securely in place — even when patients close their mouth, swallow, or speak. No dislodging, no readjusting. Because it actually fits, patients tolerate RING longer. You work uninterrupted.

RING is a single-use product — maximum hygiene, zero reprocessing risk. For surgical procedures requiring a sterile field, RING can be autoclaved prior to first use. One product for every indication — from prophylaxis to implantology.

Rocket Dental is where decades of clinical experience meet scientific precision and global strategy. We came together not to improve retraction, but to fundamentally rethink it for the digital age.
Inventor & Founder
He created the worldwide standard for retraction with OptraGate — more than 300 million clinical applications across 130+ countries, recognized with the *Medical Design Excellence Award*. Together with his son Sebastian, he is now developing RING: the next generation, engineered for the demands of the digital era. For over 30 years, he has been translating real-world challenges at the dental chair into market-ready solutions.

He runs the family practice in Jestetten — owner-operated since 1985, today delivering digital workflows at the highest level. As a board-certified specialist in prosthodontics (DGPro) and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, he combines daily clinical practice with international research. Together with his father, he developed RING — born from a real need at the dental chair, not from a lab.

Most retraction solutions come in fixed sizes. That means sorting, guessing, and switching — and in many cases, an imprecise fit that leads to slipping or dislodging exactly when stable access matters most. RING eliminates that problem with a steplessly adjustable mechanism that adapts to every patient anatomy from XS to XL. A precise fit means dramatically better retention — RING stays in place throughout the entire procedure. One product, universal fit, optimized buccal visibility for digital workflows.
We are targeting a market launch in summer 2026. Sign up for our newsletter to be among the first to know when RING becomes available.
Yes. RING is a single-use product — designed for one patient, one procedure. This ensures maximum hygiene with zero risk of cross-contamination. The material adapts to the individual anatomy during use and is not intended for reuse. For procedures that require a sterile field — such as surgical or implantological applications — RING is made from medical-grade polypropylene and can be autoclaved prior to first use.
Yes. RING features a patent-pending stepless adjustment mechanism that allows continuous sizing from XS to XL. This isn’t a compromise — it’s an engineered solution that eliminates the need for multiple SKUs while delivering a precise, stable fit across the full range of patient anatomies.
Not yet. RING is currently in the regulatory classification process as a Class I medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR). Certification is on track and will be completed before market launch. RING will not ship until it is fully classified for clinical use in the EU.
We are launching in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) first, followed by expansion across Europe and then worldwide. If you are interested in a distribution partnership for your region, visit our distribution partner page.
